Over the years our team has literally been involved in hundreds of large events. Some of those produced recently include the following.
An estimated 100,000 visitors descended on the town to watch celebrity chefs strut their stuff. Of course, as expected from Whitehaven, there were the added attractions of tall ships, air displays, continental market, multiple entertainment stages, street theatre, funfair and exhibitors.
Both Ainsley Harriet and Jean Christophe Novelli were a delight to work with - not just chefs but complete showmen! And a display from the Vulcan on Sunday afternoon was the icing on the cake!
Featuring Rick Astley, Belinda Carlisle, Paul Young, Midge Ure, Toyah, Johnny Hates Jazz and Curiosity Killed the Cat, the show exceeded all expectations. Our team provided event management, stage management, production and health and safety ensuring the event went according to plan.
Promoted by the UK's foremost transport and logistics company, Stobart, Carlisle's biggest pop party was staged over two days for the first time with headliners Boyzone and McFly. Other acts included Escala, A.M.A.N.D.A., Andrew Johnson, Hope, Chico, Billiam, Go Audio and the Hoosiers. Rain held off giving the thousands attending the opportunity to enjoy some of the other varied attractions - funfair, teenage dance tent, street theatre and performers and the Stobart Factor with judges including Louis Walsh (returning for the second year).
Overseeing event management and production, the build up to this event was not as straight forward as we would have liked! Using a major rugby league stadium, the egress capacities at the venue were insufficient for our requirements which meant that once we reached a certain amount of ticket sales, an additional exit was to be built within the boundaries. Over 7,500 rock revelers on the pitch enjoyed Status Quo at their best.
The brief was to provide the total event management service incorporating contractor procurement and management, site planning and logistics, event management and health and safety management to celebrate Veterans' Day in London.
The event in 2007 was held in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and featured a display arena, tri-service and affiliated agency exhibitors, simulators and army catering. Two large LED screens relayed a concert from within the Painted Hall featuring Engelbert Humperdinck, the Tiller Girls and Rolf Harris.
Working for the UK's most established promoter, Marshall Arts, we are now entering our forth year of consultancy for them providing health and safety advice for their large outdoor shows, writing the Event Safety Management Plan, attending the Safety Advisory Group meetings and ensuring that relevant licensing conditions are adhered to during each event. All of the shows that we have been involved in have been phenomenally successful and free of any major issues and incidents.
Westlife, Shane Ward, Mutya Buena and Chico were just some of the acts performing at the biggest party that Carlisle has ever had. We had just two months to organise this event which included two VIP hospitality marquees. The technical specification featured no less than five LED outdoor screens and the show finished with a huge fireworks display witnessed by the 15,000 who attended the concert.
We have been event managing this biennial event since 2001 seeing visitor numbers spiraling ever upwards! In June 2007, a full weekend of celebrations saw an estimated total of 350,000 visitors taking part in one of Europe's largest maritime festivals. Tall ships, air displays including the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, multiple stages, funfairs, military village, pirate re-enactments and fireworks are just a few of the many attractions.
London and the South East won the right to host the prologue and first stage of one of the biggest sporting events in the world, the Tour de France. Our client, Transport for London, asked us to devise a show to promote the Tour de France and cycling in an entertaining format featuring music, games and competitions. We produced 80 shows around the UK and the Tour de France had a staggering 2 million visitors to London for Le Grand Depart!!!
Working closely with the EMAP events team, we provide production management for the English Up Close Events. These are top secret acoustic gigs for an invited audience in unusual venues which so far have included churches, a town hall and a nightclub. Recent acts to perform at these shows have included Natasha Bedingfield, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Sugababes and Orson.
A no expense spared full on Christmas party extravaganza for 250 Eddie Stobart Motorsport guests. In a purpose built venue featuring state of the art audio visual equipment - multiple screens and intelligent lighting - the stage show was compered by surprise host Keith Chegwin and featured stars of ITV's The X Factor, with Liberty X topping the bill.
